northcoast…

enough. these few words are enough.
if not these worse, this breath.
if not this breath, this sitting here.

this opening to the life
we have refused
again and again
until now.
until now.

schooling…

we’re sloooowly getting back into the groove around here. it seems i have lost all time management skills somewhere along the way.

however, we just finished reading the book “poppy” & thought it’d be fun to inspect a real owl pellet!
we found all sorts of bones~hips, legs, skulls, ribs, etc from voles, moles & mice.
lots of “ewwww gross” & “how cool!” from the kids. i’d say the project was a success.

this & that & such

20120319-230528.jpgi kinda like my family. ;)

20120319-230624.jpgbefore we headed out to lake michigan we filled our bellies with salad, spaghetti & some amazing garlic bread.

20120319-230935.jpga quick afternoon drive & we ended up at south haven lighthouse. i love this picture of my two littlest. i love that the word ‘zen’ is just above their heads. what a good reminder to be present. it was kinda crazy with 7 cousins running around, but we still had a ton of fun. the day was perfectly warm & the sand was just what we needed. i have loved every moment we’ve been able to have with my family.

breakfast of champions

kefir, chia seeds & blueberries, mmmm…20120319-093932.jpgwe made it to my parents house in michigan. i miss my husband & have decided road trips are way more fun when he’s along. :)
it was such a long trip up here, made longer by being pulled over by the state patrol for no apparent reason other than my california plates. then i was harassed by them about my dreads & being from humboldt county. they even got out the drug sniffing dogs! i was a mess!
profiling sucks!
but alas, we arrived safe & sound & i am ready to relax & let the kids play with cousins all day. :)

denver day three

20120313-142020.jpg today was probably our most favorite activity…hammond’s candy factory!!! who doesn’t love a free tour with lots of free candy samples. the kids decided that a candy factory is one of the happiest places on earth! ;)

20120313-142328.jpg
the tour guide kept saying, “we use 3 simple ingredients in our candy—corn syrup, sugar, & water!” like it was a good thing. cracked me up every time.

20120313-143406.jpg this guy was making candy canes. we could smell the peppermint oil through the glass it was so strong!

20120313-143801.jpgwe also learned it takes 2 years to become a candy chef. you have to be strong (these blobs of corn syrup, sugar, & water weigh 25 lbs), & be able to work in a hot 100 degree work place.
anyway, it was such a great day! i love that we were able to find so many fun, free things to do in denver!
